2019 Reserve Grenache
Coastview Vineyard is located in the Gabilan Mountains on an exposed ridge top at 2300 feet in elevation. The vineyard soils are shallow with layers of decomposed granite and substantial limestone. Thin top soils offer low vigor to the vines which expose bountiful characteristics. The cooling breeze blowing in from Monterey Bay moderates the warm days with cool night temperatures. This exposed ridge top vineyard has abundant, unencumbered sunlight, driving even and consistent ripening. The warm days and cool nights allow for extended hang times that result in perfect conditions for ripe fruit flavors and elegant acidity. When our team tried this new wine for the first time the room became incredibly quiet. We all closed our eyes and found many aromas deep in the mid-palate of this spectacular wine. Dominant aromatics and flavors of ripened strawberries, graham cracker, and creme de violet are present while accompanied by soft white pepper spice and hints of tobacco with mouth-watering acidity. We encourage you to lay this wine down as long as you can to reveal its true beauty. Drink now or hold on for 15+ years.
