Vineyard designate Mourvedre from ENZ Vineyard in the Lime Kiln Valley AVA in San Benito County. - 94 points and "Editor's Choice": Wine Enthusiast
Tasting notes
From Matt Kettman at Wine Enthusiast: "From an old vineyard next to a ghost town in the middle of nowhere, this bottling excites the nose with snappy black raspberry, red flower petal and char siu aromas. The palate is juicy with plum and strawberry flavors, streaked with exotic cinnamon-like spices."
Production notes
Grapes were handpicked picked for optimal ripeness. All fruit was destemmed during crush. Fermentation lasted 8 days and was carried through native yeast and bacteria. The wine was pressed and barreled down to neutral large format 500L barrels. The wine was racked once in the spring following harvest, then aged for an additional 14 months before bottling. Bottled unfined and unfiltered
